Benefits navigation platforms compared
Two vendors can both say they do benefits navigation and sell completely different things. Sort them by the level of help your employees need first.

What are the five levels of benefits navigation?
| Level | What it does | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Benefits informationPlan documents, carrier links and an HR inbox | Plan documents, carrier links and an HR inbox | Effectively free |
| 2. Benefits websiteA site employees can browse | A site employees can browse | A website plan, plus the hours to build and update it |
| 3. Benefits guidanceA benefits site that answers questions from your plan documents | A benefits site that answers questions from your plan documents | $99 to $199 a month, billed yearly |
| 4. Benefits navigationProvider search, cost guidance and a human support team | Provider search, cost guidance and a human support team | Per employee per month, quoted |
| 5. Full-service healthcare navigationNurses, advocates, claims help and care management | Nurses, advocates, claims help and care management | A higher per-employee price, quoted |
Level 1: Benefits information
Examples: The shared drive and email you already pay for
Sometimes this is enough. The documents are legally required and employees need access to them. The limit is that information isn't an experience: an employee with a question still has to work out which document holds the answer, find it and read it.
Level 2: Benefits website
Examples: General website builders; Benefits Studio Essentials ($49 a month, billed yearly)
The software is cheap; the upkeep isn't. Someone has to gather plan details, upload documents, check carrier links and rebuild it all every plan year.
A general website builder doesn't know what a plan year is, so nothing tells you when last year's deductible is still on a page. Tools built for benefits treat plan years as real things, so the new year is a step instead of a rebuild.
Level 3: Benefits guidance
Examples: Benefits Studio Professional and Advanced
Plan documents get read, not just uploaded. Employees ask a question in plain language and get an answer with the page it came from, at 9 p.m., without emailing HR. Few vendors sit here: most sell website software with no benefits logic, or staffed navigation priced per employee.
Level 4: Benefits navigation
Examples: HealthJoy, Healthee
Here the problem is the healthcare system, not the benefit: finding an in-network provider who is taking patients, knowing what a procedure costs, fighting a denied claim. HealthJoy pairs its AI assistant with a concierge team1. Healthee pairs its assistant, Zoe, with bilingual Benefits Specialists2. People cost money per person, which is why this level is priced per employee.
Level 5: Full-service healthcare navigation
Examples: Quantum Health, Accolade (Transcarent)
At this level you are buying a healthcare service that comes with an app. Quantum Health assigns teams of benefits experts, claims specialists and nurses3, and one public 2026 contract pays $22.34 per employee per month4. Accolade, part of Transcarent since April 2025, adds expert medical opinions and virtual primary care5,6.

Prices come from public online sources as of October 15, 2026. Negotiated contract pricing often differs.
Why does per-employee pricing change the math?
Headcount is the multiplier. A flat-priced tool costs the same at 100 employees as at 500; a per-employee contract grows with every hire. Two public contracts from 2026 show the range at levels 4 and 5: HealthJoy at $8.70 per employee per month in LaSalle County, Illinois7, and Quantum Health at $22.34 in Pinellas County, Florida4.
Benefits Studio is $49, $99 or $199 a month billed yearly, flat per portal within each plan's headcount limit. Neither kind of price is wrong: the per-employee fee buys people, and the flat price buys software.
How reliable are the ROI numbers at levels 4 and 5?
Navigation can save real money when it changes expensive decisions. How the savings get measured matters. Quantum Health's published 5.9% first-year savings compare actual claims with a projection Quantum builds for each client, and the reviewing actuary relied on Quantum's data without auditing it8. Health benefits analysts also warn that people who choose to use a program are often more motivated to begin with9.
Ask any vendor who paid for the study, how the baseline was built and how many employees used the service at employers your size.
Which level do you need?
Work backward from the complaint you hear most.
- Employees can't find their benefits information: level 1 or 2.
- HR answers the same questions every week and rebuilds the site every fall: level 3.
- Employees get surprise bills, go out of network by accident or give up on claims: level 4.
- Claims spending is the problem and you need someone steering care: level 5.
Buying above your level pays for help nobody uses. Buying below it leaves the complaint in place, and you spend a year finding out.
