Benefits Studio vs Quantum Health

Start with one question: do your employees need a care team, or a benefits home?

A care team

Choose Quantum Health if

  • Your plan is self-insured and claims spending is high enough to pay for a staffed care team
  • You want people handling precertification, claims, bills and serious diagnoses
  • You can plan for a custom contract and the 120 days Quantum typically asks for to implement

A benefits home

Choose Benefits Studio if

  • Employees can't find their deductible, their plan documents or the right phone number
  • HR answers the same benefits questions by email all year
  • You want it live today, flat per portal, from $49 a month billed yearly

What does a year cost?

Quantum Health doesn't publish prices, but public employers have to. The City of Savannah, Georgia, with about 2,300 employees1, chose Quantum again in 2021 at $490,000 for the first year2. Below it is the Benefits Studio plan an employer that size would buy.

The newest public price is in Pinellas County, Florida, which approved a five-year agreement on October 13, 2026: $22.34 per employee per month for about 3,200 employees, or $857,856 in the first year3.

Different products, different jobs: Quantum's fee pays for a staffed care team, and Benefits Studio doesn't provide one.

Does Quantum Health pay for itself?

Quantum says it does. Its November 2023 report on clients from 2018 to 2022 found an average 5.9% cost reduction in the first year and a 3.3-to-1 return4,5. The same report answers most of the questions worth asking about any navigation savings figure.

1

What is it measured against?

A claims projection Quantum builds for each client, estimating costs without Quantum5. Not a control group.

2

Is it net of fees?

On claims savings alone, the first-year return is 2.8 to 1. The 3.3 adds an assumed cut in fees paid to other vendors5.

3

Who checked it?

An outside actuary reviewed it, relying on Quantum's data, which the review says was not audited5.

4

Does it match your size?

Results by size start at clients with 2,500 members. The report shows none for smaller groups5.

One more applies to every vendor: people who choose to use a program are often more motivated to begin with, which can flatter the results6. Benefits Studio doesn't promise to cut claims. It cuts the time HR spends answering benefits questions, at a price you can judge without an actuary.

How are they different?

Quantum Health is a service

Employees reach a dedicated team of benefits experts, claims specialists and nurses by phone, chat or app, for help with claims, coverage, providers and care decisions7,8. Since March 2026 that includes physician chat through CirrusMD9. Quantum also sells Embold Plus, a digital-first tier that steers employees with AI search and chat instead of a dedicated team10.

Benefits Studio is software

It turns your plan documents into a benefits site employees open on their phone: plan details, carrier links, contacts, enrollment dates and the documents themselves. Benny answers questions from those documents and shows the page it used. Nothing publishes until someone on your team confirms it.

Thinking of switching from Quantum Health?

What you give up

The care team: Care Coordinators and nurses, help with precertification and claims, and someone to work a billing problem2,8. If your employees lean on those, keep a care team.

What carries over

The information. Upload your plan documents, add carrier and HR contacts, and switch at renewal so employees hear one clear message at open enrollment.

Can you use both?

Yes. Benefits Studio can be the place employees start, with Quantum Health one tap away. Add Quantum as its own benefit on your site, with its phone number and app link, so employees see it with the rest of their benefits. Upload Quantum's member flyer to that benefit and Benny can answer from it too, citing the page. Employees get one address for plan details and documents, and the care team for everything a website can't do.

Questions buyers ask

Is Benefits Studio a replacement for Quantum Health?

No. Benefits Studio doesn't coordinate care or work on claims. It replaces the PDF benefits guide and the questions HR answers by email.

How much does Quantum Health cost?

Quantum doesn't publish prices. Pinellas County, Florida agreed in October 2026 to $22.34 per employee per month for about 3,200 employees, and the City of Savannah's 2021 award was $490,000 for the first year. Negotiated prices vary.

How long does Quantum Health take to set up?

Quantum typically asks for at least 120 days, according to its response in Pinellas County's 2026 agreement. A Benefits Studio portal drafts itself from your plan documents in about 5 minutes, and you review it before it publishes.

Does Benny give medical advice?

No. Benny answers only from the plan documents you upload, cites the page it used, and points everything else to your team or the carrier.

Do employees need to log in?

Not to Benefits Studio: a site is public, or protected by one shared password. Quantum members use an account in Quantum's app or website.
